International Snow Leopard Day

This day marks the anniversary of the Bishkek Declaration, signed in 2013 by the 12 snow leopard range countries, which committed to protecting these majestic big cats. Snow leopards, native to the high mountain ranges of Central and South Asia, face numerous threats including habitat loss, poaching, and climate change. They are listed as vulnerable by the IUCN. Their population is estimated to be between 4,000 and 6,500 individuals in the wild.
